It was Marilyn’s love of people that has brought about the concept of the gift box business you see before you today. Through her past employment working with, and in, community affairs, Marilyn came across many people one might term “ordinary” who in fact turned out to be rather wonderfully “extraordinary” due to their enthusiasm, their creativeness and their steadfastness in life. Many craftspeople were sole bread winners anxious to improve their lot while others were artists in the true sense of the word, just wanting to get on with perfecting their craft.

The Beautiful Box Company Christchurch was incorporated in 1994 to bring others worldwide an opportunity to purchase beautiful things from the nice people of a fairly remote and largely unspoiled country – New Zealand. Thousands of boxes covered in NZ art were manufactured to our design and two of them make up into little buildings with the aid of an enclosed kitset. The beautiful boxes ensure that your lovely gift will be received as a totally unique NZ gift package.

Marilyn has always believed that by supporting each other the concept of fruitfulness through co-operative ventures can be achieved. This philosophy can be explained in Maori terms by nau te rourou, naku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi (with your food basket and my food basket, all the people will be well).

Always on the lookout for some unusual potential gift, Marilyn came across a very special medal in a South Island museum. This can probably be termed “New Zealand’s first European artifact” and has been replicated on a number of gifts devised for the purpose.
