NZ Brie, Camembert and Labna cheese balls
We discovered the Longbush cheese was just as interesting as the cheesemaker has made its label which stands out as very NZ Pacific look. Enjoy artwork on the label from Caz Novak, a Taranaki artist, as well as a really good soft cheese which is either a Brie or Camembert. It’s a great cheese to represent New Zealand and a welcome addition to any cheeseboard. Did you know that Labna is the style of cheese associated with the Middle East where it is difficult to keep cheese in a hot climate so is preserved and stored as small round balls of soft cheese in a container of olive and other oils. The Green Girl Organics Labna cheese featured here in small jar of 9 or 10 balls, is made from New Zealand organic yoghurt mixed with chopped garden herbs. I can fully recommend it and believe it would be an excellent product for someone on a light diet, convalescing or for an elderly person as it can be used one at a time in a sandwich or on a cracker or with more on a fresh small lettuce salad. It is also excellent stirred into pasta dishes or a bolognese sauce where the herb flavour and creamy cheese enhances the dish. $9.50 215g jar
