Preserved Paua Abalone
New Zealand paua abalone is a shellfish delicacy preserved in bottles and jars, carefully prepared as soon as they are brought out of the sea. They are so fresh that the company can sometimes run out of their precious paua preserves if nature intervenes and prevents collection and therefore bottling of this precious seafood.
They’ve called each of the products under their generic name ‘abalone’ as abalone chutney, abalone sauce and abalone pickle but I find it easier to say paua chutney, paua sauce and paua pickle! The bottled mixture looks very dark green in colour as it is cooked with vegetables and spices for use as a condiment with one of our NZ cheeses, cold meats and barbequed food or simply spread on cracker biscuits as a different taste experience.
If you are a corporate client wishing to include the Toku abalone sauce or pickle in your gift baskets or boxes, please email us and we can get it in for you specially. The pickle is made with tiny whole abalone and vegetables while the sauce is prepared with NZ grown Maori herbs.
IMPORTANT: Please note that as this product is shellfish based, it is not suitable for those with an allergy to seafood or for pregnant women.
