How do I find price and order gift?
Look at the view of the gift item and click on “full description here” to view price, more details and larger photograph. Then look below photograph to find the place where you’ll order gift for it to be sent to checkout. Easy once you know how!

Can I customise a gift box with more than one gift item?
Certainly! If you wish to send several small items in a beautiful gift box then click on each item throughout the website and each will be sent to the checkout. However, do remember that the boxes are not huge and the largest landscape box can only take a maximum size and weight of two big wine bottles! If you require more gifts and boxes for the same address, we will pack and deliver as a tower of gift boxes!

How do I send another order to a different address?
Sorry, but you’ll have to start over again with another complete gift box order to be sent to a different address. This will obviously give you opportunity to advise us of different recipient contact details such as name, address, etc. and also let you advise us of a different message to go on the free gift card. (Recipient is the person to receive the gift). However we can add the cost of all gift boxes together, advise you of the amount and charge your credit card just once only.

Can I order by telephone? Yes, although, for most of the world, NZ’s time zone is the opposite and we have to sleep at night! Please email questions or order on line if you can.

Can I send an order by post? Yes, use our address at The Beautiful Box Company Ltd,
P.O. Box 14057, Ferrymead, Christchurch, New Zealand.

Can I place an order from outside New Zealand? Yes, of course! We welcome orders from overseas and provide you with a secure website for safety and ease of purchasing. You can purchase a New Zealand made gift to be sent wherever you like - within NZ or elsewhere in the world!

Can I send orders overseas? Yes, and also it is cheaper because we deduct the Government’s 12.5% GST (goods and services tax) from all orders sent out of New Zealand. For more information see under GST heading below. Because of immigration, New Zealanders have their roots in many parts of the globe and continue close relationships with those countries. We are more than happy to send beautiful parcels to friends and relations in other countries on your behalf (* see further along under “duty”) Also, if you live in another country from New Zealand and want something sent elsewhere, you will probably find our prices most reasonable and our personal service fantastic!

How will I know my order has been received? We will quickly email a reply to you on receipt of your order.

How is my order packed? All gift items are packed in tissue paper and decorated with pretty/suitable ribbon and placed in the box with lots of luxurious coloured papers, bubble wrap and padding materials. However, you may have requested a particular box that your gift does not fit or you may have requested too many goods for the size of the box. See under “Boxes” or Shopping Cart for the additional cost of unique boxing.

However, if you are simply wanting a gift delivered to your own home or to friends and family without the use of one of our special boxes, the selected item will continue to be beautifully wrapped but will be placed inside a plain parcel. Please indicate this choice on the shopping cart order form. We have packaged many items this way for ex-pat New Zealanders or bulk items for those wishing to receive favourite foodstuffs or icons to give to their friends and workmates.

Duty on orders*: Some countries will occasionally charge duty on randomly selected incoming parcels. We cannot be held responsible for any additional charge which might be charged. This has to be the customers or the recipient’s responsibility.

liquor orders and Legal Requirements: New Zealand has strict liquor laws which we wish to abide by. Therefore we do not sell liquor to people under 18 years of age and we do not send liquor orders to people under 18 years of age. By completing our order form you are agreeing that your age and that of the recipient is over 18 years and that if you complete the order knowing that this is not so, then you will be breaking the law in NZ and could be penalized. You would also get us into a great deal of trouble too and spoil our service for other people!!

Foodstuffs orders: Gift orders for foodstuffs have been particularly difficult to the United States over the last few years where each parcel has to receive special identification. We understand it is now possible to send most foodstuffs but not perishable cheeses, salami, preserved meats or liquor. Canned food, baking and sweets are apparently now acceptable. Food and liquor gifts can be sent to most other countries unless that particular country abides by special religious/other requirements relating to liquor.

Your safety and security are our priority. Yes, it is probably safer than purchasing goods or paying for a meal over the counter at a local shop or restaurant! Our bank spends enormous time and money researching security and offers the safest possible method in New Zealand. All communication between yourself, our company and the bank are SSL encrypted to ensure personal and financial details are kept private and secure.

What methods of payment are available? We accept Visa and Mastercard credit card payments. We can accept payment by cheque but do not dispatch the parcel until your cheque has cleared the banking system (several days later) alternatively you could make an internet payment straight into our business bank account. We are sorry if this inconveniences you.

We aim to despatch all orders within 24 hours of the day they are received unless otherwise instructed regarding a special date. Because gift items are hand crafted we do actually prefer to receive an early order with a special date “required by” - see shopping cart. All parcels have track and trace barcoding for knowledge of whereabouts which aids in security.

Delivery within New Zealand:
All items will be delivered by courier within 2 days or a little longer if a rural delivery. Express delivery for next day is available at an extra cost. Delivery Costs are an additional cost to your order.

International delivery:
We welcome orders from or to overseas and can arrange delivery virtually anywhere, worldwide. Again, we have found NZ Post to be extremely reliable and competitive and these charges will be calculated based on total weight and destination. This charge will be added to the cost of your gift and the cost of the box chosen/most suitable. International mail should arrive within ten (10) days to two (2) weeks of receipt of your order however please allow longer at busy times of the year. We prefer early orders!

International Delivery Costs:
Every parcel is individually weighed and delivery cost is based on that weight. An indication of weight per country is advised at checkout per kilogram guesstimate, although you need not worry as we will always advise the cost of delivery before you commit to the order being sent and providing us with your personal and credit card details.

What is your returns policy? If for any reason you are not satisfied with the gift you have ordered please contact us and we can arrange an exchange or replacement providing it has not been worn or used and is in the original packaging. Please notify us by telephone or email within 24 hours and also send us the carrier’s signed note and number.

What should I do if the goods arrive damaged? In this unlikely event, you can contact us for a replacement or refund within 24 hours providing our carrier delivered the parcel and it was signed for on receipt. Please return the carrier’s dispatch slip to us.

Does the Beautiful Box Company or www.Giftboxes.co.nz use or share any information supplied to us? No, we respect your privacy and guarantee that any information provided to us will never be shared with another person or organization.

What records does your company keep? We do not keep customer’s financial details unless you have particularly asked us to and will only keep your contact details on file for a matter of weeks until we are sure your parcel will have arrived safely.

GST, goods and services tax: Back to top

Items and services bought and used in New Zealand have an additional government cost of 12.5% tax (GST) incorporated into the cost of each item purchased or service used.

However, goods and services paid for in New Zealand but sent, taken or used outside of NZ shores, can have this tax deducted if the person or company selling the goods, or providing the service, is registered for GST. The Beautiful Box Company with its website “Giftboxes.co.nz” is registered for GST and therefore deducts 12.5% for all gift orders sent out of New Zealand. This is an automatic deduction on our Giftboxes final displayed checkout form for the total cost of gift items being sent overseas from New Zealand.

The postage costs for gifts sent out of NZ will be an amount which will already have the GST content deducted by NZ Post.

As an example a gift or gift selection showing on our website at $NZD100 will actually cost you 12.5% less at $88.89. Please do not worry about this with your order as it is automatically deducted and shown to you online. If you are still unclear please email us with your query.
